Kickoff Event

Join us for the San Diego 48HFP Picnic Kickoff Event!
Starting at 5:00PM on May 17 the Picnic Kickoff Event will take place at Liberty Station's NTC Park. This picturesque site will be where all teams draw their film genres. Afterwards the required elements will be announced.

5:00PM - Start of Kickoff Picnic and Team Kickoff Registration
6:15PM - Please have your team checked in by now.
6:30PM - Start of genre drawing.

• Teams must turn in a signed Team Leader Agreement in order to participate. Team Leaders do not need to be present, but their signature must be on the agreement.
 
• Prior to the Kickoff each team will be assigned a screening day and time. This will be your Screening Group.
 
• Teams must be checked in at the registration table NO LATER THAN 6:15PM.
 
• Here is how the genre drawings work this year:
 
• Genres from List 1 and List 2 will be randomly paired ahead of the kickoff with each pair placed into separate unmarked envelopes. A different set of random pairings will be made for each screening group.
 
• The The world's only 48HFP Genre Plinko Board will be set with envelopes that each contain a random pairing of genres as described above. Screening groups will be randomly called to the Plinko board where a member from each team will drop the Plinko chip to select that team's genres for the competition.
 
• After each screening group has drawn their genre, the Genre Plinko Board will be reset with new envelopes for the next group to draw from, and so on until all the screening groups have drawn their genres. Teams that are late to the genre drawing will go last after all of the screening groups have finish drawing thier genres.
• Once genre drawings are complete, the Producers will open the envelopes containing the three required elements. The last element will be announced and the competition period will begin promptly at 7:00pm after which you will be free to go make your film!
